After October 7, Shimaa was able to get out of Gaza with her newborn baby, Seleen, but her mom, dad, and other family members are still in Gaza. They are now living in a small tent and they have lost everything. Her father was an English teacher and her mother would embroider clothes and bags for a living. Shimaa has two sisters, Jumana (27) and Yasmin (18). Her brother, Muhammad (22), injured his hands when Israel bombed the house that was next to their tent and the shrapnel went into his hands. Her younger brother, Abdul Karim, is only 13 years old. Her family wants to escape to Egypt and need money for food and water.
